Neil here.
Next job, was to enhance the fridge’s efficiency and cool down its radiator fins. Apparently, it is no longer legal to allow a gas operated fridge to vent into the living space of a caravan. As if it was something you would want to have when it was legal!
So at some point in the van’s life this vent was sealed with an aluminium plate, which now gets extremely hot after a few hours of operation. This is no problem for the ali plate, but the fact that it is on the kitchen workspace, and right next to the kids bed, makes it a problem for me.
So the done thing in Jayco world is to add a couple of computer ventilation fans to the airflow to suck the hot air out of the side of the van, and make the fridge more efficient at the same time.
A bit of woodwork, creative wiring, a failed thermostat and one burned out fan and the job is done ?!
